Reopening of the Ritsumeikan University Biwako Kusatsu Campus (BKC) and Ritsumeikan Moriyama Junior and Senior High Schools

The reopening of Ritsumeikan University Biwako Kusatsu Campus (BKC) and Ritsumeikan Moriyama Junior and Senior High Schools, temporarily closed from Wednesday, May 20, to Tuesday, May 26, has been declared as follows.

1.Reopening
Date of Reopening: Wednesday, May 27, 2009
Locations: Ritsumeikan University Biwako Kusatsu Campus (Otsu city, Shiga Prefecture)
Ritsumeikan Moriyama Junior and Senior High Schools (Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture)
Graduate School Facilities used by the Graduate School of Technology Management at the Ritsumeikan University Osaka Office (Ritsumeikan Academia at Osaka)

2.Entering Campus
①The restriction regarding entering BKC and the Ritsumeikan Moriyama Junior and Senior High Schools will be lifted.
②As a general rule, entrance to the following remains prohibited until these restrictions are lifted:
Ritsumeikan University Kinugasa Campus
Ritsumeikan Suzaku Campus
Ritsumeikan Junior and Senior High Schools
Ritsumeikan Uji Junior Senior High Schools
Ritsumeikan Primary School
③Students enrolled at a campus that is still closed are prohibited from travelling to BKC and other campuses.

3.Handling of Classes Cancelled During the Closure Period
①Decisions regarding make up sessions for classes that were cancelled during the closure period, including make up classes previously scheduled for May 23, will be announced after classes resume.
②Students who were prohibited from attending a class due to measures taken by the university will be designated as an “official absence.” If you are one of these students, please inform your faculty’s administrative office.

4.Activities Outside of Class
①Restrictions regarding extracurricular activities (including circle activities) at BKC and Ritsumeikan Moriyama Junior and Senior High Schools will be lifted. However, students from Kinugasa Campus may not participate in extracurricular activities at BKC.
②Restrictions regarding extracurricular courses that use BKC facilities (including Extension Center courses) and events and activities organized by the academy will be lifted. For details, please contact the organization sponsoring the event.
③The closure of the library, computer rooms, cafeterias, and other public facilities at BKC will be lifted.
④Restrictions regarding the rental of facilities will be lifted. For details, please contact the organization sponsoring the activity.

5.If You Develop Flu-like Symptoms
①Do not attend school if you develop a fever of over 37.5 degrees or any other flu-like symptoms. Contact a fever consultation center, follow any instructions given to you, and inform the groups listed below. Do not come to school until it has been confirmed that you do not have influenza.
・Ritsumeikan University Students: Contact the faculty in which you are enrolled and the Office of Academic Affairs.
・Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University Students: Contact the Student Activities Office.
・Other Students: Contact your respective school office.
②If you are diagnosed as having influenza (H1N1 or otherwise), please do not attend class. Follow the instructions of your doctor regarding when you should return to class.

6.Future Measures
①The following schools remain closed until Wednesday, May 27; however, final decisions will be made on May 27 and communicated through methods such as the homepage:
Ritsumeikan University Kinugasa Campus
Ritsumeikan Suzaku Campus
Ritsumeikan Junior and Senior High Schools
Ritsumeikan Uji Junior Senior High Schools
Ritsumeikan Primary School
②Depending upon the situation regarding infections on campus and requests from local authorities, there may be cases where schools are closed, classes are cancelled, individuals are requested to stay home from school, etc. Please check the homepage and your email frequently and abide by any directives given to you.
